Gold Trail School District 74 Home

The Gold Trail School District lies on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Nlaka’pamux, Secwépemc, and St’át’imc peoples. Last year, the District provided education for approximately 1050 students from several communities, including 20 First Nations. Sixty-five percent of the students self-identify as having Indigenous ancestry.

 

Our mission is to ensure that each of our learners achieve personal success in their learning and to support them to become responsible and productive citizens who contribute to a sustainable and equitable society.  We want students to leave our schools with the skills and knowledge to pursue their personal goals, and we work to support positive learning environments that are rooted in local Indigenous history, language, and knowledge.   

 

Truth and Reconciliation is part of our daily work and a fundamental part of the district’s strategic plan.  Reconciliation cannot move forward without an understanding of the truth of the history of this country and the intergenerational impact of the residential school system in Canada.  This also requires us to work to understand the truth about this system and the current impacts that it has on Indigenous students, families and communities. As we seek to listen and understand, we work collaboratively in an effort of reconciliation to make classroom, schools and district a community of learning in which each Indigenous learner is able to thrive.  

Gold Trail School District 74 is committed to enhancing student engagement by implementing innovative teaching strategies and hands-on learning experiences to increase motivation and participation. We will provide targeted support and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, ensuring equity and inclusion across the district. Strengthening partnerships with families and local organizations will create a supportive learning environment that extends beyond the classroom. To ensure continuous improvement and academic success, we will regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional methods as needed.
